Sight Translation Skills Master Interpreter Mentoring
The Master Interpreter Mentor Sight Translation Skills training program focuses on how to produce communicative “a-vista” or “at sight” translation (Sight Translation) for use, providing a workshop to develop skills required to successfully deliver Sight Translation in a wide variety of professional contexts.
In Australia, Sight Translation is considered as a distinct mode of interpreting used extensively in community and public service interpreting contexts. Internationally Sight Translation is increasingly used in conferences, with many texts produced through voice recognition software applications.
Candidates undertaking the Professional Interpreter examination administered by the National Accreditation Authority for Translators and Interpreters (NAATI) are required to undergo Sight Translation testing as part of the NAATI Professional Interpreter Test. NAATI has endorsed specialised competencies for interpreters and translators under the Australian National Public Service Training Package, found here: http://training.gov.au/Training/Details/PSP61110
All training provided by Brad, in Sight Translation theory and practice, is based on the Australian National Training Package PSP61110, to the same standard as the Advanced Diploma of Interpreting qualification. The Master Interpreter Mentor will tailor training to meet each student’s needs, focussing on the coordination of cognitive memory and voice/language production.
